Project Guidelines

The Poetry for People project is primarily intended for later elementary, secondary, and higher-ed students, but is open to anyone interested in sharing, creating, reading, or helping our community understand poetry. The project is open to anyone from all walks of life, and all corners of the globe, and as such, it would be nice to have a few guidelines so everything on the site remains “classroom friendly”.

Please remember these guidelines when posting a new poem:

  • Please don’t be afraid to write poetry, even if it’s your first time
  • Please explore new poetic forms you may not have tried to write before
  • Please use language and situations that would be appropriate for K-12 students
  • Profane, vulgar, and other unsavory poetic imagery is discouraged
  • Please report and/or flag any bullying, vandalism, or abuse of the site
  • Most importantly, please remember that what you post to the site is public

Please remember these guidelines when submitting an image for use on the site:

  • Please submit images that will inspire others to write
  • Please make sure that the image you submit is either your own, a creative commons licensed image, or have received permission from its creator
  • Please make sure images submitted to the site are appropriate for viewing by high schoolers and teenage students
